Depression Counselling

Find Relief

Depression can make you feel isolated and hopeless. But you’re not the only one suffering. Millions of people experience depression and find relief through therapy. Counselling can help you understand the root causes of your depression and develop effective strategies to manage it. IFS and CBT are evidence-based techniques that can help you identify and change negative thought patterns, develop more effective coping strategies, and build a stronger, more resilient sense of self. With IFS, you’ll learn to understand and connect with different parts of yourself, promoting self-compassion and inner peace. CBT, on the other hand, focuses on the role of thoughts, feelings, and behaviours in depression, helping you to challenge and overcome limiting beliefs.

Having Depression Is Different For Everyone

Depression may occur for many reasons, including a change in life circumstances (job loss, divorce, midlife transitions) or following the death of a loved one. This response is normal; however, if your symptoms persist over several months, you may want to consider counselling and medication.

Depression may also occur for no apparent reason. Certain personality types are more prone to depression and may have experienced a lot of depression in the family. You may also have experienced childhood traumas or losses that are only now beginning to manifest in your experience. Everyone has different coping skills and ways of reacting to difficult and painful situations. There are many reasons why someone may be struggling with depression or feeling depressed. For example:

  1. Chronic stress
  2. Chronic pain
  3. Relationship difficulties

Depression and other mental health struggles, such as mood disorders, anxiety, and issues related to traumatic life experiences, can have negative impacts on your self-esteem and overall life experience.

Types of depression

There are several types of depression and many reasons we become depressed or get depression. Types of depression include:

  • Seasonal affective disorder (SAD)
  • Major depressive disorder
  • Postpartum depression
  • Depressive disorder
